Curious Maths

About me: I have worked in primary education for over 20 years, nine years spent as a Primary Maths Consultant for Enfield Local Authority. I am an Advanced Skills Teacher (AST), an National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM) Professional Development Lead and have an MA in Education. I currently write and deliver the primary maths training programme for all the teachers in Enfield, Barnet and Brent schools. I have set up this company to spread the mathematics love and to get more children believing they can achieve. Services for Parents: Curious Maths for Parents - An online subscription service to support parents with helping their child at home with maths. As a teacher I know what a difference support at home can make to a child's understanding and there is nothing out there that directly supports the parents. I am here to help! The subscription includes a library of how to teach videos, definition videos and maths games videos. Also included are a variety of maths downloadable resources and free maths workshops/live steams. Therefore, I have written high-quality programme for a maths after school club. At present, current offers for ‘extra maths’ are 1:1 tuition, which can be costly and lack the benefits of group learning and ‘self-teaching’ programmes which are not run by qualified teachers and heavily rely on worksheets. This club is delivered by a qualified primary teacher. Communicating mathematically is at the heart of the programme – children are encouraged to think more deeply about maths - about what they already know and what they can discover. Active learning and skilful scaffolding ensure children become more confident and resilient mathematicians. The club runs for 1 ½ hours and there are five sessions in a programme. There are five programmes including place value, four rules, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and algebra. All content is based on year 6 National Curriculum objectives and with consideration of KS2 SATs. Opportunities for problem solving and reasoning run throughout the sessions. Each one-and-a-half hour session costs £15 per child. If you would like your child to attend the club, please email [email protected] Services to schools: I can offer support in all areas of teaching and learning in mathematics across the primary phase. This could include tailored training, planning and team teaching; supporting maths subject leaders with whole school development, developing the role of TAs and supporting leadership teams with raising attainment and achievement in maths. I also offer enrichment packages including: Year 6 Reaching ARE Workshops Year 2 Greater Depth Workshops Curious Maths Quiz
