We all want to live in a pleasant and friendly community. Cycle Enfield believes that enabling more of us to use bicycles, rather than cars, for more of our local journeys, can help make Enfield an even better place to live – better for everyone. Change won’t happen overnight, but there are some great opportunities.

Activities & Events

Some of the events and activities available in Enfield include:

  • Access to cycle training delivered by professional cycling instructors.
  • A loan scheme where you can borrow a bike (with lights, helmet, insurance) for a month to see if using a bicycle more often could be for you.
  • The inclusive cycling scheme – running Monday – Thursday in Bush Hill Park, there are bikes that everyone can use to experience the joy of a bike ride (including a bike that takes a wheelchair).
  • Sunday bikes rides, departing from different parks around the Borough on one Sunday of each month.
  • Bike maintenance, Dr Bike checks each Saturday morning in either Palmers Green or Enfield town, where a qualified bicycle mechanic can check your bike.

There are just some of the activities and events that are available. Visit our website to find out more details and how to book these (free) events.

New Cycle Routes

Enfield was successful (one of 3 out of 18 Boroughs) in the 2014 Transport for London ‘Mini Holland’ competition. The initiatives under this scheme will now be taken forward under the Cycle Enfield programme – a programme that was already in place before this competition.

What does this mean? This success means that there are now exciting opportunities to develop additional cycling routes across Enfield. This should enable us to better connect the different areas of our community so that using bicycles for some of our shorter journeys become a choice that more people are able to make.

There is still a lot of discussion and consultation to take place over exactly where and what these routes will look like - the Cycle Enfield website will provide information and updates as things develop.
